Crafting Soundscapes:
The Versatile World of
Sean Matthew Patrick Donovan

Original Music in Every Style, For Every Story

I believe in the power of versatility in music, and my journey as a composer has taken me across a vast terrain of styles and sounds.

As SMP Donovan, I immersed into folk and country, releasing the albums Eucalypt Country and Zi Ji, where storytelling and melody come together in an intimate embrace.

As Sean Donovan, I explore more instrumental, piano-based, and experimental works—albums such as Etchings, Pieces, and Angel reflect my passion for nuanced soundscapes and creative exploration. I have a new suite of piano pieces in the works at present.

Recording as Sean Matthew Patrick Donovan, I stepped back into the world of folk-rock with my album Changing Times, capturing moments of both nostalgia and hope. My latest single, “365 Breakfasts with You,” is a preview of the songs I aim to share on my upcoming album that will feature a broad sweep of song styles.

Collaboration is central to my creative process, and playing with The Allman Street Band lets me dive into rock, prog-rock, and pop, contributing to a catalogue spanning Campbelltown, Out Of This World, Rain, Memories of Times to Come, The Allman Street Band, and the recently released Names.

I continue my musical evolution from my earlier performing in the bands Blues Dan and The Donovan Connection, to more recent projects with Tube of Venus.
